Borsa Istanbul imposes short‑sale ban on five stocks under volatility measures
Borsa Istanbul announced the activation of its Volatility Based Intervention System (VBTS) following a decision by the Capital Markets Board (SPK). Under the temporary measure, short‑selling and margin‑trading are prohibited for KOCMT.E shares from the start of the trading session on 7 July 2026 until the close of the session on 6 August 2026. The same restrictions also apply to the shares of Koray GYO, Pasifik Eurasia, Marka Yatırım Holding and Safkar Ege Soğutma for the same period (07 July 2026 – 07 August 2026).
The SPK reminder notes that, per its 5 December 2024 ruling, short‑selling is permitted only on stocks that are constituents of the BIST 50 index. The VBTS restrictions are treated as separate from the market’s standard trading rules and remain in force for the full specified duration.
