Borussia Dortmund Extends Tom Faust Contract and Sets Revierderby Dates with Schalke
Borussia Dortmund announced a long‑term contract extension for U19 midfielder Tom Faust, who has been with the club since the U9 level. The Deutsche Fußball Liga released the schedule for the Revierderby against newly promoted FC Schalke 04. The first leg will be played on the 12th matchday, between 4‑6 December 2026, at the Veltins‑Arena in Gelsenkirchen. The return leg is set for the 29th matchday, between 9‑11 April 2027, at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. The dates were revealed ahead of the official league calendar as part of the "Bundesliga City Challenge," with information envelopes hidden for fans in both cities.
Additional preseason activity includes Dortmund’s U23 side winning a 4‑0 preparatory match in Lünen and the loan of striker Daniel Sumbu to Sturm Graz until season’s end. Dortmund’s first‑round DFB‑Pokal tie against HEBC Hamburg is scheduled for 1 September 2026.
