Borussia Dortmund juggles Guirassy speculation while adding Lerma and Verlaat
Borussia Dortmund's senior squad is amid speculation over striker Serhou Guirassy, with Premier League interest reported and a possible transfer before the August 31 deadline, though the club publicly maintains they are planning to keep him.
The club has also completed the signing of 18‑year‑old Ecuadorian midfielder Justin Lerma from Independiente del Valle after his 18th birthday. South‑American expert Simón Escudero likened Lerma to Jude Bellingham, saying, “Lerma has similar qualities to Jude Bellingham,” and highlighted his technical ability and dynamism. Dortmund invested around €4 million with hopes the player will develop into a future star.
In the reserve team, Dortmund secured experienced Dutch defender Jesper Verlaat on a free transfer from 1860 München. The club announced a contract through 2029, with sporting director Ingo Preuß stating, “With Jesper we gain an experienced player for the defensive centre. He will be an important support on and off the pitch for our young players.” Verlaat is set to join the U23 side ahead of the Regionalliga West campaign.
