Borussia Dortmund defeats Sabah 2-1 in Champions League match in Baku
Borussia Dortmund secured a 2-1 victory against Sabah FK at the Baku Olympic Stadium in a Champions League group stage match. Serhou Guirassy scored both goals for the German side, finding the net in the 10th minute and again in the 53rd minute to break a recent winless streak for manager Niko Kovac.
Sabah, led by Valdas Dambrauskas, provided significant resistance. Aden McCarthy equalized for the hosts in the 39th minute with a header following a Tymoteusz Puchacz free kick. Despite several opportunities for Sabah, including a disallowed goal by Joy-Lance Mickels, Dortmund managed to hold onto their lead.
The match was played in front of approximately 45,000 to 55,000 spectators, a significant increase from Sabah's typical domestic attendance. This victory brings Dortmund to six points in the group stage, while Sabah remains on three points.
