Borussia Dortmund signs Joey Veerman from PSV Eindhoven
Borussia Dortmund has officially completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Joey Veerman from PSV Eindhoven. The 27-year-old joins the Bundesliga club on a contract lasting until June 30, 2031, and will wear the number 25 shirt. Reports indicate Dortmund triggered a release clause valued at approximately 22 million euros to secure the transfer.
Veerman arrives with significant experience, having recorded 31 goals and 67 assists in 198 appearances for PSV. Sporting Director Lars Ricken noted that the acquisition is part of a strategic effort to rebuild the central midfield following the departures of Pascal Groß and Salih Özcan, and a shift in Emre Can's role toward central defense.
This move follows the recent acquisition of 23-year-old Greek attacker Giannis Konstantelias from PAOK Saloniki for a reported fee of around 26 to 32 million euros. The club's recent transfer activity reflects a focus on securing young, high-potential talent with long-term contracts. Additionally, the club is reportedly open to negotiating a sale for Carney Chukwuemeka if a significant offer is received.
