Borussia Dortmund rejects Jadon Sancho return

Borussia Dortmund has declined the opportunity to re-sign free agent Jadon Sancho, despite interest from supporters and recent squad depth issues. While Sancho remains a popular figure at the club, the board has reportedly dismissed a return as ‘out of the question’.

Decision-makers cited concerns regarding Sancho’s high wage demands, estimated at approximately €6 million per year, and his lack of match fitness. There are also concerns regarding his consistency and the uncertainty of his performance levels.

Instead of pursuing the 26-year-old, Dortmund opted to sign 19-year-old Ethan Nwaneri on loan from Arsenal on the final day of the transfer window. Sporting Director Lars Ricken described the acquisition of Nwaneri as the ‘best possible solution’ to address the loss of creative options following injuries to key players.
