Borussia Dortmund extends Anton and Ryerson contracts, loans Japanese midfielder Takato Yamamoto

Borussia Dortmund announced that it will prolong the contracts of centre‑back Waldemar Anton and right‑back Julian Ryerson until 2030, aiming to ward off interest from clubs such as Manchester United and Barcelona. Ryerson, who recorded 15 Bundesliga goals, 18 assists across all competitions and featured for Norway at the World Cup, will stay on a longer deal. Anton, poised to become the third team captain after Emre Can’s injury, also received a significant wage increase.

In addition, Dortmund confirmed the loan acquisition of 18‑year‑old Japanese U19 international Takato Yamamoto from Gamba Osaka. The midfielder will join the club’s U23 side in the Regionalliga West, with a purchase option likely included. Yamamoto becomes only the third Japanese player in Dortmund’s history after Shinji Kagawa and Mitsuru Maruoka, and the club expects him to develop into a future first‑team asset.
