Borussia Dortmund stars Nmecha and Schlotterbeck draw Real Madrid interest after World Cup success

German international Felix Nmecha celebrated his goal in the 7‑1 win over Curaçao at the 2026 World Cup with a public display of his Christian faith, sparking both praise and criticism. Alongside defender Nico Schlotterbeck, Nmecha was among the standout performers for the DFB in the opening match.

Their strong displays have reportedly attracted the attention of Real Madrid, whose new manager José Mourinho is said to be targeting both players. Nmecha recently extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2030 without an exit clause, making a departure unlikely. Schlotterbeck, however, has a release clause reportedly valued at €50‑60 million, which could enable a move if Madrid meets the price.

The speculation comes as Dortmund monitors the players' form during the tournament, while the Spanish giants look to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
