Borussia Dortmund signs Konstantinos Karetsas for €32 million

Borussia Dortmund has completed the high-profile signing of 18-year-old Greek attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas from KRC Genk. The transfer is valued at approximately 30 to 32 million euros, including bonuses, marking one of the largest deals in Genk's history. Karetsas, who is committed to the club until 2027, has chosen the number 19 for his jersey, citing Lionel Messi as his inspiration.

Karetsas's arrival is part of a broader squad restructuring led by new sporting director Ole Book. Other recent arrivals at Dortmund include Joane Gadou from RB Salzburg, Kaua Prates from Cruzeiro, and Justin Lerma from Independiente. The club's focus on young talent is further highlighted by Karetsas and Gadou's rising positions in the Golden Boy Top 100 rankings.

In related player news, former Dortmund prospect Julien Duranville has moved to Olympique Lyon following a loan spell at FC Basel, where he is currently fighting for playing time in the Champions League qualifiers.
