Borussia Mönchengladbach faces defensive crisis ahead of DFB-Pokal match

Borussia Mönchengladbach enters its DFB-Pokal fixture against Karlsruher SC facing significant personnel shortages, particularly in defense. Head coach Alexander Blessin reported that three of the team's four central defenders are unavailable, forcing further improvisation in the backline.

Despite these challenges, Blessin noted "a bit of light on the horizon," citing the potential return of Jens Castrop. The team is seeking its first two consecutive victories of the season following a recent 3-2 win against VfB Stuttgart. Blessin emphasized the importance of the cup competition as the "fastest way to win a title."
