Borussia Mönchengladbach secures first Bundesliga win of the season

Borussia Mönchengladbach achieved their first victory of the 2026-27 Bundesliga season with a 3-2 win against Stuttgart. The match, held at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, saw Japanese players Shuto Machino, Zento Uno, and Daiki Hashioka in the starting lineup.

After conceding an early goal in the 5th minute, Gladbach equalized through Joe Scully in the 38th minute. Shuto Machino scored the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute, followed by a goal from Wael Mohya in the 66th minute. Despite a late push from Stuttgart, Gladbach held on for the win.

This victory marks a significant turning point for the club under new manager Alexander Breschlin, who took over following the dismissal of Eugen Polanski. Breschlin expressed relief after the seventh match of the season, stating, “Finally, we have lifted a great burden. The players deserve the best reward.” The win helps the club move away from the bottom of the league standings.
