Boryung sends youth space medicine research to the Moon

Pharmaceutical company Boryung has successfully loaded a ‘Moon Time Capsule’ onto the Trinity lunar lander, marking the first time South Korean youth creative works have been sent to the Moon. The capsule contains 51 award-winning entries from the 3rd ‘Humans In Space Youth (HIS Youth)’ competition, held in collaboration with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.

The capsule includes historical and cultural data from institutions such as the National Folk Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, alongside messages from the public collected by Seoul National University and Severance Hospital. The contents are part of the IM-3 mission by Intuitive Machines, which is scheduled to land in the Reiner Gamma region of the Moon in the first quarter of 2027.

As part of the initiative, middle and high school award winners visited major U.S. space organizations, including NASA and Intuitive Machines, to receive mentoring from experts at Baylor College of Medicine. This project follows a previous effort where elementary school entries were sent to the International Space Station via Axiom Space.
