Poland's PiS faces split over Morawiecki's Rozwój Plus association

Law and Justice (PiS) leaders have ordered all party members to renounce participation in any political association by 23 July. The decree targets Mateusz Morawiecki’s “Rozwój Plus” and Jacek Sasin’s “Po pierwsze Polska”, threatening expulsion for anyone who does not submit a loyalty declaration.

Dozens of MPs and euro‑deputies have already signed the required statements, while others, including Daniel Obajtek and Anita Czerwińska, publicly urged unity. Internal factions – the “harcerze” supporting Morawiecki and the “maślarze” backing Sasin – continue to clash, with heated exchanges in the media and even pre‑court threats.

Jarosław Kaczyński and Morawiecki are scheduled to meet on 23 July at the PiS headquarters to discuss the dispute. Recent polls show that a Morawiecki‑led party could capture around 6‑7 % of the vote, enough to siphon support from PiS and reshape the right‑wing parliamentary balance.
