Bosch expands e-bike technology with new motors and smart features

Bosch eBike Systems is expanding its technological footprint in the electric bicycle market through new motor systems, battery technology, and smart software integration.

New hardware developments include the Active Line Plus motor, which is 500 grams lighter than its predecessor and provides up to 60 Nm of torque. This is complemented by the PowerTube 720 battery, offering up to 185 kilometers of range. Additionally, the Bosch Hub Line rear hub motor provides 45 Nm of torque for urban models.

On the software side, the eBike Flow app is being enhanced with features such as AI-supported range planning, improved navigation with waypoint support, and digital theft protection.

These components are being integrated into various new bicycle models. Cube has launched the Fold Hybrid Deluxe 540, a folding e-bike featuring a Bosch Performance Line motor and a 540 Wh battery. Canyon has introduced the Roadlite:ON CF, a lightweight carbon city e-bike weighing under 13.9 kg. In comparative testing of lightweight trekking e-bikes, the Kalkhoff Endeavour L Excite was rated as a top performer among models utilizing the Bosch Performance Line SX motor.
