Humanoid robotics market expands as China dominates and Bosch enters production
The humanoid robotics industry is experiencing rapid commercial and financial expansion. In China, manufacturers dominated the market in the first half of 2026, accounting for approximately 97 percent of global deliveries with over 40,000 units. Key players include AgiBot, holding a 44 percent market share, and Unitree, which saw its stock surge by over 629 percent following its IPO on the STAR Market.
While Chinese firms focus on scaling production and testing robots in diverse disciplines—ranging from combat to household tasks at the World Robot Games in Beijing—European companies are also positioning themselves for industrialization. Bosch has announced plans to begin series production of AI-controlled humanoid robots at its Bühl plant in Germany starting in summer 2027. This initiative is supported by a partnership with the British startup Humanoid, which is valued at approximately 1.3 billion euros.
Despite the growth, challenges remain regarding the robustness and balance required for seamless industrial integration. Additionally, the sector faces geopolitical tensions, such as US restrictions on the import of new autonomous robots from China.
