Bosch unveils software-defined truck technologies at IAA 2026

Bosch is introducing a comprehensive portfolio of technologies at IAA Transportation 2026 aimed at transforming the freight transport industry through electrification, hydrogen power, and automation.

A central component of this strategy is the development of software-defined trucks. These vehicles utilize high-performance computers, sensors, and centralized architectures to allow for remote updates and complex digital management of vehicle functions.

To support decarbonization, Bosch is offering diverse powertrain solutions, including a new rigid e-axle that integrates the electric motor and transmission, and fuel cells for buses and trucks with power outputs ranging from 100 to 300 kW. The company is also investing in hydrogen combustion engines and components for alternative fuels like methanol and ethanol.

In terms of safety and automation, Bosch is advancing driver assistance systems using artificial intelligence and sensor technology, including digital mirror cameras to monitor driver attention. Additionally, Bosch is expanding its commercial vehicle portfolio through a planned joint venture with TSF Group subsidiaries Brakes India Private Limited and Wheels India Limited to develop smart actuators for air suspension and braking systems.
