Bosco di Corniglio: Man dies rescuing boy scout

A 61-year-old man died in Bosco di Corniglio, in the Parma province, while attempting to rescue a 13-year-old boy scout. The incident occurred in the afternoon near the Costa degli Spini area on Monte Tavola during a group excursion from Salsomaggiore.

According to the Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico dell’Emilia Romagna, the teenager fell into a ravine for reasons still under investigation. In an attempt to reach him, the man lost his balance and fell several meters, striking rocks. Despite immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts by a fellow scout and subsequent medical intervention by helicopter crews, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured teenager was stabilized using mountaineering techniques and transported by helicopter to the Ospedale Maggiore di Parma. He is reported to have sustained probable fractures to his lower limbs but is in non-critical condition. Carabinieri are investigating the dynamics of the accident.
