Bose unveils new Sport and Ultra Open Earbuds

Bose has announced the expansion of its open-ear audio lineup with two new models: the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) and the Sport Open Earbuds. Both products utilize Bose OpenAudio technology, which projects sound through the air near the ear canal rather than using bone conduction, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings.

The Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) serve as the premium flagship, featuring a refined cuff-style design with a new driver for deeper bass and higher volume. This model includes a Cinema Mode powered by TrueSpatial technology for immersive video and podcast experiences. Battery life has been improved to 9 hours of playback, supplemented by 19.5 hours from the wireless-charging case. It also supports Snapdragon Sound with aptX Adaptive on compatible Android devices.

The Sport Open Earbuds are specifically engineered for physical activity, featuring a flexible silicone C-arm design for stability during intense movement. They carry an IP54 rating for dust and sweat resistance and utilize physical buttons for easier control with wet or sweaty hands. This model offers up to 7 hours of battery life, with an additional 22 hours provided by the charging case.

Both models include SpeechClarity, an AI-enhanced voice isolation system for clearer calls, and support Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity. Pre-orders for the new devices began in mid-September, with general availability starting October 1.
