Bose updates QuietComfort Ultra Gen 2 with Auracast and LE Audio
Bose has begun rolling out firmware version 10.12.12 for its QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), introducing several significant audio upgrades. The update enables Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast, which are currently being released in beta.
Auracast technology allows a single audio source to broadcast to an unlimited number of compatible receivers simultaneously, making it useful in public spaces like airports or theaters. The update also implements the LC3 codec for improved efficiency and sound quality.
However, these new Bluetooth features are currently limited to compatible Android and Windows devices; they are not available for iPhone users. Additionally, the update provides 5.1 spatial audio with head tracking for certain Android devices and enhances USB-C audio performance, specifically improving the balance between game audio and voice chat for users on compatible PCs.
