Boskalis awarded cable installation contract for Zeevonk wind farm

Boskalis has secured a contract to transport and install inter-array cables for the first phase of the Zeevonk Offshore Wind Farm in the Dutch North Sea. The project is a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).

The contract, valued between €50 million and €150 million ($58 million to $174 million), involves the transport and installation of approximately 149 kilometers of 66 kV inter-array cables. These cables will connect 69 wind turbines. Boskalis will also manage cable testing, termination, the installation of protection systems, seabed intervention, and survey work.

Operations will utilize the BOKA Ocean cable-laying vessel, with subsea rock installation vessels deployed for seabed work. Cables will be transported from a manufacturing facility in Eemshaven to the wind farm, located roughly 45 nautical miles northwest of IJmuiden. Engineering is expected to commence shortly, with the offshore installation campaign and commercial operations for the first 1 GW phase both planned for 2029.
