Boskoop lift bridge failure forces major traffic detours

On Friday morning, 7 August, a power outage at the lift bridge on the Zijde in Boskoop caused the bridge to remain open and unable to close. The outage, reported to utility Liander at 10:13 a.m., disrupted a key traffic artery, prompting authorities to divert vehicles. Motorists were instructed to use the N207 toward Waddinxveen or Alphen aan den Rijn, while traffic on the opposite side was rerouted via the N455. A technician was on site working to restore the bridge’s operation while traffic management measures remained in place.

The incident created significant congestion and required drivers to plan longer routes until the bridge could be repaired.
