HJPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina begins session on judicial reform

The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has commenced a two-day session in Sarajevo. The agenda includes reviewing the 2026 reform program implementation, discussing a medium-term work plan for 2027–2029, and addressing high-level corruption and organized crime cases. The council is also preparing for an international conference on judicial security and reviewing proceedings against suspended judicial officials.

Separately, Saša Magazinović, head of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly delegation to the Council of Europe, has called for European institutional reactions regarding Serbia’s handling of the funeral and honors given to convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić. Magazinović suggested that such actions should be considered when evaluating Serbia’s compliance with Council of Europe obligations and its EU accession process.

In domestic political developments, MP Šemsudin Mehmedović has called for the dismissal of Chief Prosecutor Milanka Kajganić. Mehmedović cited professional misconduct, lack of accountability, and the alleged protection of political interests by certain prosecutors as factors contributing to a deteriorating security situation in the country.
