Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina establishes three new cities
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has approved draft laws to grant city status to Sanski Most, Velika Kladuša, and Kiseljak. Prepared by the Federal Ministry of Justice, these proposals will move to parliamentary procedure via an accelerated process. The legislation defines the territories of the new cities, their governing bodies, and the methods for electing city councils and mayors.
In response to the decision, Kenan Dautović, the mayor of Travnik, criticized the federal government. He noted that the Travnik Municipal Council had unanimously passed an initiative to grant the municipality city status last December, but Travnik was excluded from the current government decision. Dautović expressed that the move humiliates the citizens of Travnik.
Additionally, the Federation government has approved amendments to the Factoring Law. The goal of these changes is to increase legal certainty, encourage the establishment of factoring companies, and improve liquidity for small and medium-sized enterprises by moving beyond a banking-only model.
