Bosnia's public broadcaster BHRT granted additional 6 million KM in state funding

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved an extra six million convertible marks (KM) for the state broadcaster BHRT, marking the largest single‑year support to the public TV service. The funding, drawn from the Regulatory Agency for Communications (RAK) budget, brings total state aid to a historic 10 million KM in the current mandate and is intended to stabilize BHRT, which faces debts exceeding €50 million, unpaid salaries and blocked accounts.

Separately, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communication allocated 3.015 million KM to Radio‑Television Herceg‑Bosne. The subsidy, granted under the “Current transfers and other current expenses – subsidies to public enterprises – improvement of RTV activities” programme, will finance the production of domestic radio and TV content, upgrade transmission to HD, and improve studio capacities in Mostar, Kiseljak and Orašje. Over the past three years, more than six million KM has been earmarked for this entity broadcaster.

Minister Edin Forto emphasized that the RAK‑derived funds are now being deployed as a development engine rather than remaining idle, supporting both the state and entity broadcasters and strengthening Bosnia’s media infrastructure.
