Bosnia and Herzegovina institutions work to exit FATF grey list

Bosnian institutions are intensifying efforts to combat money laundering and terrorism financing to address deficiencies identified by international monitors. Following Bosnia and Herzegovina's placement on the FATF grey list in June 2026, a conference in Sarajevo brought together representatives from over 30 state, entity, and cantonal institutions, alongside experts from Croatia, Serbia, and the European Union.

The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina is leading the response by developing the Inter-institutional Programme for Removal from the Grey List (GLEP). This program aims to translate FATF recommendations into concrete institutional responsibilities and coordinated measures. While FATF recognized improvements in financial investigations and data exchange, it noted ongoing weaknesses in risk assessment and the effectiveness of measures against financial crime. The goal is to implement necessary improvements by January 2029.
