Balkan elections: SNSD and SNS launch campaigns amid regulatory warnings
Political campaigning for the 2026 general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia has officially commenced. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Central Election Commission (CIK BiH) has issued warnings to all political entities regarding the strict prohibition of hate speech, noting that violations could lead to fines, candidate removal, or the cancellation of political entity certification.
Campaign regulations include a spending limit of 30 fenings per voter for the Presidency and Parliamentary Assembly elections. The campaign period is scheduled to run until October 3 at 7:00 AM, followed by a mandatory election silence period. There are approximately 3.4 million registered voters participating in these elections.
In Republika Srpska, the SNSD party has launched its campaign, with candidates Željka Cvijanović and Savo Minić representing the party for the Presidency and the Republic's presidency, respectively. Meanwhile, in Serbia, the SNS party has announced Aleksandar Vučić as the candidate for Prime Minister and the leader of the ‘Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia’ list for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
