The Balkan region continues to experience intense late-summer heat and prolonged drought. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, climatologist Bakir Krajinović warns that despite the transition to September, temperatures will frequently exceed 30°C, reaching up to 35°C in Herzegovina. While nights are becoming cooler, a critical lack of rainfall since June persists. Krajinović noted that brief local showers are unlikely to improve the water balance in rivers and soil, leaving the risk of forest fires at a critical level.

In Croatia, high temperatures are expected to persist. The Zadar region will see highs between 32°C and 34°C, with the hinterland potentially reaching 36°C. In the Brod-Posavina County, temperatures are forecasted to remain around or above 30°C, with some areas seeing up to 36°C, though some instability and thunderstorms may occur in western parts of the county.
