Bosnia and Herzegovina football team reflects on World Cup round‑of‑16 exit

Former Bosnia and Herzegovina coach Blaž Slišković said the national team is on a positive trajectory but needs patience as a new generation develops. He lamented the 2‑0 loss to the United States, stating “veliki žal ostaje zbog činjenice da smo eliminirani, ali treba biti objektivan i reći da smo izgubili od kvalitetnije ekipe.”

Midfielder Haris Tabaković, who overcame a pre‑tournament injury to play the final 15 minutes, posted an emotional message: “Najveći trenutak moje karijere… predstavljati Bosnu i Hercegovinu na Svjetskom prvenstvu nije samo sportski uspjeh, to je privilegija koju dobije veoma mali broj ljudi.” He thanked fans for their support throughout his recovery.

Forward Dženis Burnić also expressed pride and gratitude, noting “postoje porazi koji bole, ali postoje i trenuci koji čovjeku zauvijek ostanu u srcu.” He praised the nation’s backing, acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat, and vowed that the team will return stronger in future competitions.
