Bosnian tourists lead night‑stays in Croatia's Makarska, accounting for one‑sixth of visits

In the first six months of 2026 the Adriatic town of Makarska recorded 447,690 overnight stays, a 1.7 % increase over the same period last year, and welcomed 103,145 guests. Tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina were the largest foreign market, logging 73,669 night‑stays – roughly one‑sixth of all visits – with an average stay of 3.6 days.

German visitors placed second with 46,995 night‑stays, down 7.5 % year‑on‑year and averaging 5.2 days. Polish tourists were third at 46,197 night‑stays, a 5.7 % decline and 5.1 days on average. Domestic Croatian guests accounted for 40,309 night‑stays, up 25.7 % and staying an average of 2.8 days. Ukrainian tourists recorded 37,546 night‑stays, a 32.6 % rise, staying about 5.9 days.

Hotels remained the dominant accommodation type with 213,201 night‑stays (47.6 % of the total), up 4.5 % from the previous year, while family‑run lodging contributed 183,635 night‑stays (41 %).
