Sarajevo to receive monument dedicated to medieval ruler Ban Kulin

The Bosniak Cultural Community has unveiled a project for a new monument in Sarajevo dedicated to Ban Kulin, a prominent ruler of medieval Bosnia. The monument, titled ‘Kulin, Ban of Bosnia’, is the work of academic sculptor Adis Lukač.

The initiative coincides with the commemoration of Bosnian Literacy Day, which marks the 837th anniversary of the Charter of Ban Kulin. Issued on August 29, 1189, the Charter is recognized as one of the oldest preserved diplomatic documents of the medieval Bosnian state, written in the vernacular language.

The Municipality of Centar Sarajevo is an institutional partner in the project. While a final location has not been officially confirmed, organizers have suggested the area in front of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a symbolic site for the installation.
