Bosnia and Herzegovina Islamic Community Names Candidates for Reis‑ul‑Ulema

On 26 July 2026 the Electoral Body for the Tuzla electoral district held a consultative meeting chaired by Bajazit Jašarević to record candidates for the position of Reis‑ul‑Ulema of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The body reaffirmed its earlier recommendation of Dr. Vahid Fazlović, who declined, and recorded new candidates: Dr. Nedžad Grabus, mufti of Sarajevo, and Dr. Mensur Malkić, director of the Religious Affairs Office of the Rijaset.

A parallel meeting of the Ljubljana electoral unit, chaired by Samir Kerić and attended by mufti Dr. Nevzet Porić and other officials, unanimously nominated Prof. Dr. Nedžad Grabus as the sole candidate from Slovenia. The final list will be submitted to the Assembly of the Islamic Community, which is scheduled to meet on 5 September 2026 to confirm the candidates.
