Bosnia and Herzegovina Islamic Community receives candidate nominations for reisu‑l‑ulema
The Mostar Muftijstvo held a meeting at the Karađoz‑begova medrese and unanimously nominated Mufti Dr. Salem ef. Dedović as a candidate for the post of reisu‑l‑ulema of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Delegates praised his human, scientific and religious qualities, his youth, and his role in inter‑faith dialogue, stating that his election would strengthen the Muslim community in Herzegovina.
In the Tuzla electoral district, the electoral body proposed Mufti Dr. Vahid ef. Fazlović for the same position, but he declined the candidacy, saying, “I cannot accept the candidacy for reisu‑l‑ulema… the demanding role should be taken by younger scholars.” He expressed gratitude to the current reisu‑l‑ulema Husein ef. Kavazović and affirmed his continued support for the community. The nomination process will continue with the candidates forwarded to the governing organs of the Islamic Community according to its constitution and election rules.
