Bosnia and Herzegovina joins EU sanctions against Russian military industry
Bosnia and Herzegovina has joined the European Union in implementing restrictive measures against the Russian military-industrial complex. The decision targets 826 companies and 743 individuals linked to Russia's military sector, according to an announcement by the EU Council on November 3.
Other nations joining this alignment include Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Ukraine. These countries have committed to aligning their national policies with the EU Council's decision, which was originally approved on October 12.
The sanctions package represents the largest single expansion of the list of sanctioned entities related to the Russian military industry since the invasion of Ukraine began. The targeted companies include suppliers of components for advanced military systems such as missiles, drones, and aircraft, specifically focusing on electronics, semiconductors, microchips, communication equipment, radar, and munitions. The EU Council estimates that the affected companies have an annual turnover of at least 20 billion euros and employ more than 250,000 people. The measures include asset freezes and travel bans for the listed individuals.
