Bosnia and Herzegovina Judiciary Reports Faster Case Processing and Budget Boost

The Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office recorded a marked improvement in its workload for the first seven months of 2026, resolving 270 more cases than were received and filing 827 indictments—119 more than the same period in 2025. The number of old cases closed more than doubled, rising from 454 to 927, which the office attributes to intensified effort and a focus on legal certainty.

For 2026, the national judicial system received additional funding: the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (VSTV BiH) was allocated an extra 1.9 million KM, the State Court an extra 1.3 million KM, and the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina an extra 1.4 million KM. Most of the increase is earmarked for higher salaries, allowances and staffing levels, with further resources directed to material costs, utilities and operational services.
