Bosnia and Herzegovina: June tourist arrivals down, Konjic stays rise

In June 2026 the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 137,072 tourist arrivals, 9.8% fewer than the same month a year earlier and 7.4% lower than May 2026. Domestic visitors accounted for 26.8% of arrivals, while foreigners made up 73.2%. The total number of overnight stays fell to 278,490, a 5.6% decline year‑on‑year and 1.8% below May, with foreign guests comprising 73.3% of nights. Hotels and similar accommodation provided 94.4% of all nights. The largest shares of foreign overnight stays came from Turkey (10.7%), Croatia (9.5%), Germany (6.1%), Poland (6.1%) and the United States (5.8%). Available beds in June numbered 33,653, down 3.2% from the previous year, and the hotel‑sector bed‑occupancy rate was 30.9%.

Meanwhile, the town of Konjic is experiencing a rise in multi‑day, adventure‑focused visits. The local agency Visit Konjic reports more individual guests and smaller organized groups staying for several days to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, rafting on the Neretva River, jeep safaris and camping. Leading source markets include the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Poland, as well as Germany, France, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Australia. The shift toward longer, activity‑rich stays is extending overall tourist presence in the region.
