Bosnia and Herzegovina launches job fair to match 100 employers with 246,000 unemployed

The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced the 2024 "Gledaj sebi posla" job fair, scheduled for 3–4 September at the Hills Hotel in Sarajevo. The event aims to bring together around 100 employers, cantonal employment services, the Federal Employment Agency, a rehabilitation fund for persons with disabilities, educational institutions and international organisations to meet unemployed job‑seekers and people seeking career changes.

Minister Adnan Delić highlighted a paradox in the labor market: despite a record 246,000 registered unemployed, many employers report shortages in deficit occupations. He noted that nearly two‑thirds of those on employment registers are not actively looking for work, citing the need for a new Employment Mediation and Social Security Law to separate active from inactive seekers and to reform public employment services. Assistant Minister Ernis Imamović also stressed the importance of better data separation for targeting training and re‑skilling programmes.
