Bosnia and Herzegovina launches Sustainable Development Week
The sixth Sustainable Development Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina has officially opened at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. Under the slogan ‘Lead the Change,’ the event focuses on leadership for inclusive and equitable transformations toward sustainable development, emphasizing decisions based on reliable local data to build more resilient and accessible communities.
The program is part of the United Nations joint program ‘Advancing towards Agenda 2030 through sustainable development management in Bosnia and Herzegovina,’ which is funded by Sweden and implemented by UNDP, ILO, IOM, and UNICEF. A key milestone of the event was the signing of cooperation protocols with 26 cities and municipalities, marking a new phase of support for localizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the SDG 2030 BiH program.
Swedish Ambassador Helena Lagerlöf highlighted that Swedish support is increasingly directed toward concrete local changes, helping municipalities plan better and invest based on evidence. UN Resident Coordinator Arnhild Spence emphasized the necessity of collective action between institutions, local authorities, and international partners to translate development goals into measurable results for citizens.
