Bosnia and Herzegovina Minister Edin Forto accuses SNSD of blocking digital development plans

Minister of Communication and Transport Edin Forto said that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina considered less than half of the nearly 100 agenda items scheduled for its session. He criticized ministers from the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) for preventing the adoption of a series of strategic documents related to broadband internet access and other digital‑transformation initiatives, describing the blockage as a continuous hindrance to the country’s digital development.

During the same meeting the council approved the text of a inter‑state gas interconnection agreement with Croatia, which will be sent to the Presidency and Parliamentary Assembly for ratification. Forto, speaking as a representative of the Our Party (Naša stranka), voted against the treaty, demanding clear financial and technical guarantees and clarification of any U.S. government involvement. He also reiterated support for cutting a three‑kuna airport fee to improve the bargaining position of Bosnia’s four international airports.

The gas project, known as the Southern Interconnection, is aimed at diversifying Bosnia’s natural‑gas supply and reducing reliance on Russian gas, with construction to be carried out by the U.S. company AAFS.
