Bosnia and Herzegovina passport ranks 40th globally, tied with Albania, Moldova and Venezuela

According to the latest Passport Index, the Bosnia‑Herzegovina passport holds the 40th position worldwide, sharing the spot with Albania, Moldova and Venezuela. It has a mobility index of 123, allowing its holders visa‑free entry to 76 destinations, visa‑on‑arrival in 42 countries, electronic travel authorisation for five, and pre‑approved visas for the remaining 75.

Regionally, Bosnia and Herzegovina trails its former Yugoslav neighbours: Croatia and Slovenia lead with a mobility index of 172, while Serbia ranks higher at 133 and Montenegro at 130. Citizens can travel throughout the Schengen area and many other major destinations using the passport, though visas are still required for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and several African nations.
