Bosnia and Herzegovina prepares pension boost and RS public‑sector salary hike
In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina a second pension adjustment for 2024 is being prepared. Pension association president Haso Halilović said a decision is expected by 20 July, after the Federal Statistical Office publishes inflation and wage‑growth data. The increase is projected to be at least 5.8‑6 %, raising the June pension payments that will be paid out in August. The Federation government has pledged an overall 17 % rise in pensions for the year, following an 11.2 % uplift in January.
In the neighbouring entity Republika Srpska the government intends a 5 % salary increase for public‑sector workers, to start on 1 August pending approval by the National Assembly. The raise is financed by a newly approved 800 million KM loan and a recent budget‑rebalancing measure. It will chiefly affect health‑care, public administration and education staff, lifting average net earnings for health workers from about 2 039 KM to roughly 2 141 KM and providing comparable gains in other sectors.
