Bosnia and Herzegovina prosecutors pursue fatal accident cases

Legal proceedings are advancing in two separate cases involving fatal traffic accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina, both raising questions regarding forensic accuracy and judicial integrity.

In the case involving the death of journalist Goran Maunaga, prosecutor Nemanja Sladoje has requested a prison sentence of three to 15 years for Miloš Abazović. The prosecution alleges that Abazović was driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, leading to the death of Maunaga and causing serious injuries to four others. The defense has argued that the indictment fails to prove intent and has suggested the charges should be dismissed or reduced to negligence.

In a separate matter, the Federal Prosecutor's Office of FBiH has delegated a criminal report to the Livno Canton Prosecutor's Office regarding traffic expert Franja Zovko. Zovko is accused of providing false testimony in a case involving a fatal accident on the Mostar-Čapljina road that killed three young people. The victims were Almin Crnalić, Enis Kurtović, and Dalila Žugor. The report alleges that Zovko's expert findings lacked material evidence and contradicted other forensic assessments.
