Bosnia and Herzegovina raises minimum pension by up to 6% in July adjustment

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy announced that Bosnia and Herzegovina will adjust pensions on 1 July 2024, applying a 5.6‑6.1 % increase based on official statistical data. Under the new formula, the lowest pension is expected to rise from 666.76 KM to roughly 706 KM, the guaranteed pension from 842.44 KM to about 892 KM, and the average independent pension to exceed 900 KM for the first time. This semi‑annual adjustment follows a January increase of 11.2 % and brings the total annual rise to about 17 %, as mandated by the Pension and Disability Insurance Law, which requires adjustments each January and July using the most favorable model for retirees. Future changes will depend on inflation, wage trends, employment levels and overall pension system health.
