Bosnia and Herzegovina reports wage gaps as mayor eyes salary cuts

Data from the Bosnia and Herzegovina statistical agency show that the average monthly salary in April was 1,684 KM, with large differences across sectors. The highest‑paid fields were IT, finance and public administration, where average earnings reached 2,196 KM in finance and 2,119 KM in public administration. Other well‑paid sectors included electricity production (2,067 KM) and mining (1,861 KM). At the lower end, construction workers earned about 1,307 KM and hospitality staff only 1,157 KM.

Separately, a municipal mayor announced that officials are considering reductions in salaries for local mayors, the elimination of certain senior positions and the closure of some local institutions. The proposal signals potential policy moves aimed at cutting public‑sector expenses.
