Bosnia and Herzegovina sees return of diaspora from US and Germany

Individuals from the Bosnian diaspora are choosing to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina after decades spent living abroad in the United States and Germany.

Alen Dervić, who lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for 24 years, has relocated his family to Tomislavgrad. Dervić cited the desire to raise his children in a peaceful environment similar to his own upbringing as a primary motivator for the move.

Similarly, journalist and court interpreter Erdin Kadunić has returned to Sarajevo after 44 years in Germany. While acknowledging that life in Bosnia and Herzegovina presents challenges, Kadunić noted improvements in infrastructure and digitalization. He emphasized the importance of social connection and empathy found in his home country, suggesting that life in Germany has become increasingly difficult.
