Bosnia and Herzegovina to host Open Skies reconnaissance flight

The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have announced a scheduled reconnaissance flight over the country from September 7 to 11. The mission is being conducted in accordance with the Open Skies Treaty, involving cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and Transport, and Sarajevo International Airport.

The flight will be carried out by a Romanian Air Force Antonov An-30, a transport aircraft equipped with specialized sensors and cameras for territorial recording. To ensure compliance, the sensors will be inspected by specialists from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The flight includes international inspectors accompanied by local teams from the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Communications and Transport.

The Open Skies Treaty is a security arrangement that allows member nations to conduct unarmed aerial surveillance of each other's territory to gather data on military forces and activities, with the goal of building trust. Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a signatory to the treaty since 2003.
