Bosnia and Herzegovina moves to add special licence plates for electric and hybrid cars

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent an initiative to the Ministry of Communication and Traffic proposing amendments to the vehicle registration regulation. The amendments would introduce special registration marks for electric and hybrid vehicles, allowing easier identification of zero‑ or low‑emission cars and enabling targeted traffic, parking and administrative benefits.

The proposal cites similar schemes used in several European states, for example Germany’s additional “E” emblem. It notes the growing number of electric and hybrid vehicles in Bosnia and Herzegovina and frames the change as the first step toward a systematic regulatory framework for these vehicles. The initiative was announced by Minister Dubravka Bošnjak, and the Ministry of Communication and Traffic would be responsible for adopting the new rules, which would define vehicle categories, plate design, issuance procedures and usage conditions.
