In Bosnia and Herzegovina, individuals may opt for voluntary insurance to secure pension and health benefits, particularly when employers fail to fulfill their legal obligation to pay contributions. For the current year, the monthly cost for voluntary service is 418.88 KM.

To qualify for voluntary insurance through the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute, applicants must meet several criteria: they must be citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reside in the Federation of BiH or the Brčko District, and be between the ages of 15 and 65. Additionally, applicants must not be currently employed, enrolled in regular schooling, or already receiving a pension. A medical certificate proving general health fitness is also a mandatory requirement for approval.
