Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Traditional Folk Gatherings Attract Large Community Participation

In the village of Par Selo, residents and visitors gathered for the annual lilanje ceremony held on the eve of Ilindan. Lanterns made from dried bark were carried through the streets, children played, and elders shared stories about the custom, which is practiced across Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

In Ljubuški, mufti Salem Dedović highlighted the role of traditional summer mevlud gatherings in preserving the faith and social ties of local Muslim communities. The event drew numerous worshippers, imams, and guests, who listened to speeches underscoring the cultural and religious significance of such customs.
