Bosnia and Serbia border delays worsen amid new EU Entry/Exit System

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, drivers are urged to travel cautiously due to unstable weather, ongoing road works and the implementation of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES). Sections of the A‑1 highway and several main roads are closed or limited to vehicles under 3.5 tonnes, causing detours and reduced traffic flow. Border checkpoints are experiencing longer processing times, with some waiting up to 30 minutes for passenger vehicles and longer for heavier traffic.

Serbia reports that freight vehicles are waiting up to four hours at exit border crossings, with specific delays at Gradiška, Preševo, Šid, Batrovci, Bezdan, and Horgoš. The Serbian police also announced that, from 1 July, electronic toll tags (TAG devices) will be mandatory for fourth‑category vehicles on the Belgrade bypass, with fines for non‑compliance, aiming to speed up toll‑booth processing.
