Bosnia arms trafficking probe links to Sweden’s Foxtrot network

An investigation into illegal arms trafficking from Bosnia and Herzegovina has uncovered potential links to Foxtrot, one of Sweden’s most prominent criminal networks led by Rawa Majid, also known as the ‘Kurdish Fox’. The Foxtrot network and Majid have previously been sanctioned by the United States and the United Kingdom due to alleged ties to Iran.

As part of ‘Operation Thor’, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) conducted searches at four locations in Sarajevo, Doboj, and Bratunac. Authorities seized nine hunting rifles, five pistols, approximately 190 rounds of ammunition, and extensive documentation regarding weapons permits. Investigators suspect that some documents were forged to facilitate the illegal acquisition of firearms.

Reports indicate that the investigation is being conducted in cooperation with Europol. Sources suggest the illicit supply chain may have involved a police officer from the Sarajevo Canton who worked on firearms permits in Ilijas. The officer was suspected of misusing permits issued to citizens to procure pistols from companies in Bratunac and Doboj for illegal distribution. During the operation, a suspect sustained self-inflicted gunshot wounds and later died at a clinical center in Sarajevo.
